Futures Lab ISR Challenge

Applications are now closed.

Plexal is working with Futures Lab to explore how UK industry might innovatively contribute to intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) mission outcomes.

Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance is the activity that allows the UK to understand the strategic and tactical environment in which military forces operate.  In this case, the UK is specifically focused on signals intelligence: the detection, identification and geolocation of signals throughout the electromagnetic spectrum. This may include emissions from communications, radar and other systems. The ISR mission includes the consolidation of incoming data, analysis and processing of the information and the subsequent transmission of this, in multiple formats, to a wide range of consumers.

We are looking for suppliers of products, technologies and/or approaches that can contribute to ISR mission outcomes. Further detail of the challenges we are looking to address are below:

1. How might we use automation to structure, label, manage and prioritise data at edge to support triage and analysis efforts in order to reduce the burden on intelligence analysts?

This includes the capturing, understanding and analysis of audio data, covering numerous languages and dialects. We are also interested in suppliers that provide pattern recognition, data formatting and data prioritisation solutions.

2. How might we use synthetic environments to accurately reflect the operational realities of SIGINT collection and analysis in order to provide varied, realistic and up to date test and training data?

This challenge will include the capturing of data and its ingestion into synthetic environments, which will be used to test new capabilities, and train personnel.

Solutions do not need to address all aspects of these challenges. Selected suppliers will be interviewed, and if successful, will have the opportunity to present their solution to the customer at the Futures Lab Technology Showcase in September 2024.
