The Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network (GlobalWIIN) is an international-focused programme and community headquartered in the UK, which prides itself on work that “highlights the contribution of ingenious women that contribute innovative solutions to the needs of humankind”.
This mission aligns with our own ambition of supporting innovators and enabling communities to benefit from their technologies, so we’re pleased to have GlobalWIIN’s annual Conference and Showcase take place at Plexal Stratford this year on Wednesday 2nd – Thursday 3rd October.
The GlobalWIIN Conference and Showcase will deliver a knowledge exchange through a think tank-style format as it brings together founders, policymakers, researchers, academics and other innovators from the ecosystem at our workspace on the Here East campus on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The theme will be growth of sustainability, responsible innovation and inclusivity, with sessions covering everything from enhancing competitiveness with IP through to exploring the opportunities of new technologies, while workshops will cover wellbeing, pitching and more.
Meanwhile, the GlobalWIIN Awards Ceremony will be held at UCL London and is another opportunity for female leaders to shine. Nominations are open until Thursday 25th July and this is the time to name the talented women who have a world-changing innovative idea for their chance to be recognised.
Here’s what GlobalWIIN judges are looking for from innovators:
- We are seeking exceptionally creative, inventive, innovative, entrepreneurs, leaders, scientists, engineers, technologists, designers from all sectors and backgrounds right across the globe.
- GlobalWIIN Award winners may be very different but they will have in common: tenacity, the determination to succeed, commitment, extraordinary potential, someone whose positive influence could spread, transcending borders, something that can contribute to the future and quality of life on earth.
Bola Olabisi, GlobalWIIN founder, says: “Recognising inclusivity and the support for more women with ingenious ideas that can benefit our lives is so important especially at a time when the world faces many critical issues that need to be solved. We want to highlight the best and freshest ideas by women from a local and international perspective while assisting many to become investment ready.”
Kate Pearman, COO at Plexal, adds: “Collaboration is at the heart of Plexal’s ethos, so we’re proud to support GlobalWIIN in their mission to unite, celebrate and champion those women who make such powerful contributions to society and the economy.
“We’ve welcomed some truly phenomenal female leaders into our community and I hope this campaign encourages more innovators to come forward to make their presence known across the science and technology ecosystem at large.”
