BADU’s Swimathon 2024

March 21, 2024 - April 28, 2024 | 00:00

Our member BADU, in partnership with Playmaker, is hosting a Swimathon – and you can contribute!

The BADU Swimathon initiative aims to address disparities in swimming ability and water safety among traditionally underserved communities, particularly focusing on residents in East London, many of whom are Black or Black British. With statistics indicating significant gaps in swimming proficiency, especially among minority children, BADU’s provision of swimming lessons to 29 residents represents a crucial step in bridging this divide.

Participants will complete a five week training programme including water safety to then participate in a final event. Participants will complete a challenge where they will pick any distance between 400m and 1.5k to swim (at their own pace).
